Testudine is the taxonomic order containing all turtles and tortoises. Most members of this order have a shell that develops from their ribs. There are about 300 living species today. They can be found in water and on land. The largest Chelonian is the Leatherback Sea Turtle, and the smallest is the Speckled Padloper Tortoise.
