Salamanders are amphibians belonging to the orders Caudata or Urodela. They lay eggs in water. Adult salamanders range from being entirely aquatic to semi-aquatic to entirely terrestrial. A special type of salamander is the axolotl, which usually stays in its larval stage for its entire adult life. Salamanders encompass newts, mudpuppies, and sirens.
